Emotions are ever present in the world today. Learning about them and understanding that they are only temporary is important. They are inevitable. Allowing ourselves to have feelings and responding to them during and/or after in a healthy way is a process that unfortunately takes a lot of learning.
For many years, I was unable to handle emotional situations properly. Finally, after a lot of hurt and pain, I realized that the only one that could do something about it was me. I allow myself to feel what it is I feel at any given moment. Diving deep within myself, reflecting on what it is within myself that allows me to feel those feelings, I have grown to make the changes necessary in my life. I have traded in blaming others for those feelings and have taken responsibility to change and take the steps necessary to look at the feelings in a different light. Allowing ourselves to be however we need to be at the present moment is so important. We owe it to ourselves and the people we love to allow this for each other. If we all stop, breathe, and know that we are all filled with love and compassion, then our emotions will come and go with support. Avoid telling someone that they shouldn't feel what they are feeling, or try to talk them out of it. Let them process it and come to terms with it in their own way. In the mean time, work on taking responsibility for your own life and living it more joyfully.
